The mind behind Cold Consulting
Real life career advice starts with understanding the real person behind the career.
I’m Nelly — a certified career coach and consultant who believes in the power of putting your best foot forward before you ever set foot in an interview.
What “putting your best foot forward” looks like is different for everyone. That’s why my sessions aren’t designed to turn you into a cookie-cutter job seeker. They’re personalized to help you showcase who you are, recognize what you bring to the table, and put your best self forward.

My professional journey
My career began at the age of 16 working in an offshore contact center as a customer service representative. I quickly developed a solid work ethic and learned that articulating my goas was just as important as the positive results I was bringing to the table. I quickly became one of the youngest trainers in the company. Years later that work ethic would bring me to lead a team in Cerritos, CA— where my communication skills would be molded towards my employees, my leaders, and partners.
My time in corporate America has evolved from leading small teams, to managing across multiple states, to leading the same offshore contact centers where I once answered phone calls. My continued efforts to self-develop, continuous networking, and passion for mentoring continued to helo me find my niche.
Today, I manage large scale projects, instead of centers —while holding the title National Chief Programs Officer for Ability ERG and serve on the board of employAbility Dallas.
These opportunities have solidified a strong career can be created regardless of privileges or lack thereof. I’ve learned that every experience brings new and valuable skills. Most importantly, I’ve developed a desire to share my learnings to help others build the careers they desire through consulting, mentorship, and coaching.
Why I do this
Throughout my career, I’ve seen people who seem to find opportunities around every corner. Then, I saw others who struggled with even landing a job interview regardless of how many applications they submitted. The differentiator wasn’t always talent, skills, or qualifications. It was their ability to communicate their professional value—to understand what they bring to the table and present it confidently.
As we grow, some have easy access to networks, strong mentors, dedicated school counselors, or parents who understand how to navigate workspaces. I was one of the people who did not. Cold Consulting was created as an outlet for my professional skills to help shape the next generation of talent.
A little more about me
I was born in the beautiful melting pot that is Southern California. That became the foundation of my upbringing, later shaped by a significant cultural shift when my family moved to Mexico, followed by years in Colorado and, eventually, my journey to DFW.
Being a first-generation American and experiencing life in different places has shaped the way I see the world. Those experiences built hard work, resilience, and a positive outlook into my core personality. They also shaped two values I carry with me every day: believing in equal opportunity and leading with people first.
Those values are ones I pass on to my two boys, who have given me the most fulfilling career path I’ve ever had the privilege of working toward. As a mother, I’m proud to show them that the world is a beautiful place to live and thrive—and that with tenacity, confidence, and an optimistic outlook, we can create opportunities for ourselves along the way.
Those same beliefs shape the way I work with my clients.
I believe your values, experiences, and individuality influence how you approach your career—and that they can become some of your greatest assets.
You don't have to have the same experience as everyone else, because you aren't everyone else.
Your experiences and individuality can help you communicate your value, find the right opportunities, and build a career that feels authentic to you.
That’s why I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to career coaching. I believe in understanding the person first, then helping them find the path that works for them.
I will work as hard for you as you are willing to work for yourself.
